Betsy - the real O.G.

Betsy is one of our original 3 heifers.  She came straight off the range and expecting her first calf.  It took a little bit of time for her to trust us as she had not had much human interaction.  After about a year, she decided that we were a-ok and she could let her true disposition shine.  She is the most mellow, laid back cow I've ever encountered.  She will let us handle her new babies and doesn't get nervous when we love on them!  She give herself crazy hairdo's on the scratching post and has natural highlights that most women pay good money for!  Hahaha!

CALF #1 FRIENDLY
DUN BULL CALF 2016

Friendly got his name because he was literally the friendliest little calf we had ever been around!  Growing up, my cows wouldn't even let us touch them!  Although Betsy didn't really trust us yet, Friendly didn't know he was supposed to be afraid of humans.  As he grew bigger, his hair grew long and golden brown like his mommas.  He would greet me in the pasture with a big lick to my elbow!

CALF #2 LITTLE J
WHITE BULL CALF WITH DUN TIPS 2017

Little J was the first calf I ever watched be born.  Betsy spun around in circles until he literally flew out and hit the ground!  I was video taping and you can hear our whispers, "Is the baby ok?  Is it alive?"  Pretty soon, his little ear moved and a sigh of relief washed over us!  He was so brilliant white, he looked like a little sheep out in the field.  He was named Little J because he was such a Daddy's boy, not ever far from his daddy, Big J.

His winter coat was the shaggiest of shaggy like his momma.  He looked like a tween-age boy who desperately needed a haircut!

His summer coat was curly like his Dad.  He grew up to be a fine looking bull and is living in Northern Idaho with a herd of his own.

CALF #3 CHESTER
DUN BULL CALF 2018

Chester was the tinest calf!  He could walk right under his mommas belly without ducking.  He soon turned from new baby gray, to toddler dun and looked like a little teddy bear!

Short as can be, it was clear that Chester would not be a big boy!

He was purchased by a wonderful family in upstate New York where he has already sired his first calf!  It was SO hard to let him go, but we had one final grooming session and said our goodbyes.  Thankfully, it's an open adoption and his new cow momma sends pictures and updates!  LOL!

CALF #4 DELILAH
WHITE HEIFER WITH DUN TIPS 2019

A striking baby girl with the whitest of coat.  Her tips were dark dun when she was new and lightened up as she grew.

She was shy from the beginning and is still a bit reserved.  It took me 6 months to convince her that she should let me brush her!

She is a year old now, and will stay at our homestead for a very long time.  Her long curls are perfect for our breeding program and I have been waiting for sweet Betsy to have a baby girl.  She is shorter than her mom and I have hope she will mature under 48"

CALF #5 FELICITY
DUN HEIFER CALF 2020

This gorgeous girl was born just one week ago.  Since her momma trusts us, she doesn't have any reason to be afraid of humans either.  She walks right up to anyone and everyone to say hello!  She puts her little face in your hands and waits for some loves.
